The Pits, whats next???

Hey I see the pits is down to be revamped. Also, on the weekend they said
they have a big surprise for us all!
Any ideas what Jan Khol and the boys are going to give us next?
Just wondering what the rumor is. I'm sure it will be great!

But will we be allowed to take the plate off at Talladega, and run it at 12
mph alone, 15 mph in the draft??

But the default cutting height will be too low, resulting in unrealistic
lawn growth. This will be cured by a patch 6 months later causing havoc with
all the online gardening leagues.

God, I hope not.  That flash and eye-candy may look great the first couple
of times you see it, but it gets old really fast and, worse, increases the
amount of time pages take to load.  Living in the UK, load times are
something you should definitely be concerned about.

I agree, I have no desire to see bright and flashing web pages
if they are going to take an age to download.  I also have a
major dislike for Macromedia products, due to having to use
Freehand at work!  UUURRRGGGGHHHHH!!!

48+

I wouldn't bet on it Neo.  I lived in the UK until a couple of months ago
and worked in telecomms.  There are rumours and speculations, but nothing
concrete.  Oftel (www.oftel.org) is looking into it, spurred in part by
reservations about the relatively high cost of e-commerce, but BT has stated
repeatedly that unmetered local calls are not a viable proposition.
Currently, Kingston-upon-Hull is the only part of the UK that has unmetered
local calls (6p per call) and you may be able to find better rates than BT
from your various of local and cable telecomms companies.

http://www.oftel.org/superhwy/intc1299.htm is an interesting document
produced by Oftel comparing the cost of using the internet in the UK with
various other countries.

Although I'm sure they won't do this, I think The Pits could do with a
bit of redesigning, perhaps by adding Macromedia Flash animations to
it.

In its current state The Pits seems quite dull and whilst its still
the best download resource on the web for racing sims, it could be
much better...

Flash isn't that bad at all. It depends on how much of it they would
use. A few fancy sprits and buttons would be perfect to add something
special whilst keeping down loading times. Eye candy really can make a
world of difference.

And per-minute call charges from BT are soon going to be a thing of
the past, my friend.

Sounds silly but think for a minute. Tractor pulling is really the LAST
unlimited form of motorsport. Also think about the sound and the
VIBES when one of those 7 engined monsters hit full throttle in one
of those little arenas!!!!!! Being at one might not be so bad!

My "I hope they don't include" list:

1) Flash/shockwave (Or other plugins. )
2) Resizing my browser
3) Popup windows. God, those are annoying.
4) Animations in general. I have a coworker who uses post-it to
   cover animations on webpages.
5) Javascript (Due to it being unsafe, I wish to have it disabled.)

Please keep it nice and tidy. I think most visitors to the pits are
looking for information, not multimedia presentations. Leave the
flashy stuff to the sites thats no more than a commercial. (eg. cocacola)
