Race drivers practically sit on the floor pan.  Look at the next race
when they talk to the drivers before the start...their chins will barely
clear the window level.  If the hood is visible, not very much of it is.
That's why drivers in the pits run into stray tires that are 6 feet in
front of their cars, cuz they can't see that close to the vehicle.

in my car I sit probably nearly as low as them, it's got a 51.6" roof, and
yeah I don't see my hood...but when I look out the windshield I see a lot
more than the 3-4" on my screen (aside from when some SUV is sitting in
front of me), the incar view on a screen will always lose that battle, you
just can't be accurate with it...and for the life of me I want to master the
sim with that view...but it's frustrating because looking at 3" loses a lot
for me...getting it to 4" is great but then all the sudden I can't see
anything on my side.

Think about Tiger Woods, when he had lasik he said the hole just looked
bigger when he would line up his shots...because he had decent vision, well
on a monitor you lose that decent vision and then some.

Really I am happy they added the fov feature, in fact every new feature has
been great (well aside from the sun not wishing to set, but it is pretty and
does make me want to squint), it just seems the only reasonably decent way
to get close to the action is to buy a Parnananananananananahelia...

It was a stretch to see the corners in my 2000 Taurus, and I'm 6'4".
