F1RS Problems

by Joginder Mad » Thu, 08 Jul 1999 04:00:00

Hi all,

I am having lots of problems with F1RS (the original one).  I am only
able to get about one lap before I get kicked to my desktop.  My
specs:

Celeron 300a
128 MB RAM
16 MB TNT2
MX300 sound card
Full install of the game (D3D)

I believe the version of F1RS is the latest one..it does have force
feedback capability.  Any ideas?

Joginder

P.S.  The game came with my formula force wheel (one HELL of an
impulse buy!).  The wheel rocks!  I don't even mind the pedals.  I
haven't tried GPL with the new wheel...later tonight.  It might
surprise you but the FF is extremely well implemented in Lucas Arts'
Episode I Racer....the G force effects were awesome.

Just waiting for GPL 1.1

What resolution you running? I run a 1024x768 desktop and was having
problems like that. Switching to 800x600 before I went into the game cured
it. Hope it helps.

Sorry about the double post, but if that doesn't cure it, you can go over to
http://www.f1racingsim.com/index2.html and check their forum page for ideas.
If it does fix it, check it out anyway. You can get programs to put your
name in the game or update it to the 99 season.

>Yeah. Run your desktop at 800 x 600.

I run my desktop at 1024x768 and have absolutely no problems
with F1RS. His symptoms sound like overheating.

Is anything overclocked????

My desktop is running at 800x600 (16 bit).  Nothing is overclocked.
I'll check out the web page mentioned in one of the other posts.
Hopefully I can get things running.

Thanks,

I checked out the forum.  Seems like it's a fairly common problem.
Anyways, even though my CD came with the latest version, I downloaded
the 1.09 D3D patch and the 3D sound patch from the Ubisoft site.
Voila!  No more problems.

Thanks for the help!
