I saw the Logitech Wingman Formula Force there for 109.99 and even at 17
bucks shipping it's cheaper than anywhere I've seen (Compusanet had it for
119.99 at 9 bucks shipped + tax)

anyhow, what kind of experience have any of you had with Buy.com? I hope to
hear from several people good or bad as I know RAS is most likely the most
honest yet still friendly place on the net. (Heck you hardly see anything I
would call a flame somewhere else at this civilized post)

My service was just fine the three times I've ordered from them.  Overall,
I think the "rule of thumb" with buy.com is that you won't have any
problems as long as the item you're ordering is in stock.

I've purchased a 3DFX video card, and my Sound Blaster Live! from them.  The
prices were VERY low, and I was nervous until the shipment arrived. When I
saw that the cards were indeed in the retail boxes and sealed just like they
are in the stores, I was thrilled!  Both cards are working fine, and I
always check buy.com when I need any computer goodies.

I've bought a lot from them, including my Logitech FF wheel (just got it 2
weeks ago!).  I recommend them highly.

I would agree that this is the most honest and friendly newsgroup
around, but I still recommend that IRL fans wear Nomex at all times!

Buy.com are a bunch of idiots & downright dishonest. For an alternative view
on Buy.com, check Dejanews for alt.laserdisc  and the recent buy.com fiasco.

A quick recap for the lazy:

buy.com advertised a shitload of laserdiscs at $1.11 (I think) each and
as such got a massive signup for them. Unsurprisingly it was a ploy to
drive up their potential value to investors prior to floatation. Thus, no
laserdiscs for the people who signed up.

I bought my TM NASCAR Sprint from them and the service was
great, and price low. The wheel came reall quick and I was
surprised because it was delivered not even a week after I
sent in my payment. Koodos for buy.com.

buy.com service changes depending on the type of product you are
buying.  They usually get into trouble when the have a great deal on an
item and yet the don't have it in stock.  The best place to check this
out is at pricegrabber.com  They give you detailed information like
wholesale price and how much is in stock of a particular item.  This
is the best site to search for deals on the net.  They will actually
tell you how much a reatiler is losing a each item in order to get
your business.  You can even get email alerts when prices change
dramatically.

I can say that I have ordered several items form buy.com and the service has
been perfect.  I purchased a Stealth II for $44.95 back in January I think with
a $30 mail in rebate.  $14.95 card is ok for me ;)   The card also arrived a
day earlier than I expected.

Ive also ordered some misc items from them and no problems.

Good luck,

Scott

Remove George, Metz and the Indy 500 from IRL and you'd never have to wear
