While I do love the distinctive sound of those twins, they
just don't SCREAM to me like a 4 does.  I will admit though,
that a Ducati is next in line on my bike purchasing list.  I
think I might go with a used Monster though.  If I'm gonna pay
more to go slower than an equal displacement Japanese
bike, I might as well get something a little different. ;)

Yep, plenty of times.  And closer than most folks have, I'd
imagine.  Louder doesn't equal better. :)

I love my inline 4s for their reliability and smoothness, but whenever I
pull in behind a Duc at speed I still get chills. The Italians still produce
the finest sounding machines on two wheels or four.

They all sound great, but my favorite is my 86 VFR750 Honda.  It has that
V8 rumble that the RC30s lost with there crank configuration.

V8 *would* be a rumble on a bike ;-)
I agree though typo aside the V4 has that
straight cut gear whir.

Thats right, they are 2 strokes, and each of the 4 cylinders is only 125cc
each. They are not going to sound like a Harley, or a Superbike.

Or mine with a Micron race pipe...a lot throatier than the Gixxers.
