NR2003 & TPTCC - Car Files & Painting

by Larr » Fri, 02 Jan 2004 06:27:35

Ok, I'm confused here...

I have no time to paint a car for this, so I was just going to grab the
AI_10 Ford Mustang, slap my numbers on it, and go.

I copied the original TPTCC Car file and renamed it like it should be for
RASCAR, and selected that as my online and offline car.

Now, how the hell do I edit it to change the numbers?

I have zero working knowledge of car paiting or how to apply said painting
in NR2003.

As it stands, I'm sure I'll show up as #98 in the race list, but the car
will have a 10 on it.  I prefer to have the 98 on it.

Thanks :)

You would probably be better off starting with one of the templates from the
US Pits.  But if you want to use that car specifically I think you just have
to export it from the NR2003 opponent manager, repaint it, and then import
the new one.

Larry, I did the same thing, just renamed one of the Corvettes. I then took
it into the paint shop and erased the number and added my #42. I hope it
works.

Larry,
I converted it for ya and posted it on RASCAR under TPTCC cars.

I knew someone was going to suggest this, and that was my plan, but...

When I bring up the painter in NR2003, the graphics are all screwed up.
It's all smooshed up into the upper left hand corner of the paint window.

Tim,

I got it.  Thanks!

How did you do that?

I know there was a utility floating around somewhere to convert paint jobs,
but I seem to have lost track of it.  Is that what you used ?

That's what I was going to do, but my Paint Shop is all screwed up.  The car
is all smooshed up into the upper left corner of the window.

Looks like my truck at IRP :)

Sounds like Tim solved your problem, but for future ref you don't need to go
into the paint shop to export the texture.  Just go to the opponent manager,
pick the car, and hit the export button at the bottom.  It will save it as a
TGA file in your imports_exports folder.  Then edit it in Paint Shop Pro or
something similar, and import it back in from the opponent manager.  No Papy
paint shop required.

Your welcome.  I used the paint shop in N2003.
Exported the cup paint, imported it into tptcc.  It's not a perfect fit, but
it'll do for now.

The reason the in-game paintshop is all weirded out is because the
car is using a hi-res paintscheme.

It looks fine except for the one missing 'I' in "Pupperoni" on the left hand
side.  Otherwise it fits perfectly, especially the "Golden Retriever Rescue"
letters on the back, which by luck fit the Mustang indents perfectly :)

I did find that converter btw...

I had that thought run through my head.  Thanks for backing it up.  Now I
know it wasn't just a sudden rush of air :)

Cool.  Thanks!

Wouldn't it be great if there was an external program written by someone to
handle ALL of the car painting needs for NR2003, including spitting out the
final, ready-to-use car :)

How do you get the Mustang?  I'd rather drive that than a Vette...

Both the Vette and the Stang are part of the TPTCC mod which is
available at the uspits.com.(v1.4)
I understand that shortly, (relative term, I know) the next
update for the TPTCC mod(v2.0) will be out for the beta team.  That
will also include at least one more car model, the 2003 Viper
Competion Coupe.  (Winner of the Laguna round of the Speed
World Challenge GT series)
