GPL problem -- could use some assist

by ltmem.. » Tue, 25 Oct 2005 00:44:56

After about two years, I have decided to put GPL into my newest
computer.

     It is:

          Windows 98SE
AMD Athlon XP-M1900 (1.6 gig processor)
          224 MB ram

I have added 3D7 rasterizer  and put in the "fast" processor
patch

It runs great and does a great job, giving me consistant 20 frames
per second --

    But ----

When I attempt to go back to the setup screen or any other screen
for that matter , it crashes back to the desktop -- out of GPL
altogether.

Does anyone have any ideas on how to combat this behavior?

     Assistance will be appreciated.

     Doug

You don't mention your graphics card but if it's an nVidia one try OpenGL &
see if it helps.

You could also try setting the desktop to 16bit colour although this usually
only makes a difference when running in a window.

What graphics board do you have? What rasterizer are you using in the
graphics setup of the options menu?

20fps ain't enough for GPL

And seems rather low for that cpu, though we don't as yet know what the
graphics card is.  Or what the screen settings are.

What version of DirectX do you have?

What graphics board do you have and what version of the drivers?

What else is running in the background?  (virus checker, firewall etc..)
