Using Clutch in GPL

Using Clutch in GPL

by Nigel Nichol » Tue, 05 May 1998 04:00:00

I read a few weeks ago folks discussing adding a third pedal
to their control sets. All I can say is "do it".

I built my controls with a clutch pedal right from the start
but had not wired it in. Now since getting and running the GPL
demo I have made the effort to wired the clutch pedal pot into
the joystick port. All I can say is "AWESOME!"
I tend to spin out a fair bit in GPL and it sounds really cool
as I try to get the car corrected I have my foot on the clutch
and the engine is still idling over even as I am spin around
in 360's. From a stand still dropping the clutch at full rev's
is more controllable than just jamming it in gear at full
rev's.  It will stall if I don't give the engine enough revs,
and it's a simple foot the clutch to refire it.
Starting from the pits it's in 1st gear, hit the gas, drop the
clutch and burn ***.

I hope this code makes it to Nascar 3 Papyrus.!

GP2 also went well with clutch.
