Using the clutch in GPL.

Using the clutch in GPL.

Having seen a number of posts about using an analog clutch in GPL, I thought
I'd give it a try to see what it was like.  I don't have a clutch pedal so I
assigned my brake to the clutch and used a steering wheel-mounted button for
the brake.  While it was fun to use the clutch, I still wasn't required to
use it.  Seems to me you could just as well mount a pedal with no electronic
connection whatsoever and just pretend.  Am I missing something?  Is there a
configuration setting somewhere that needs to be set?  I'd like to be
convinced of the worth before I invest in extra hardware.  I have a MS FFB
wheel so I won't be able to build my own clutch as an add-on.  I guess I'd
have to invest in a new wheel/pedals.

  Yo...
I have separate axis for brake and throttle, I also constructed an aluminium
hand lever on my steering wheel.... about 2" long with 1"1/2 travel utilizing a
100 kb pot... wired as nec. I use this for GP2 and GPL on the start grid.... it
does help on the get away with more control, rather than just 'bang it' into
gear!
It is quite an easy mod, a small 'L' shaped bracket bolted to the top flange of
the steering wheel boss, a 100 kb pot, a splined cog (for end of pot) and a gear
wheel to match (cog) fixed to a pivoted sprung lever.... works a treat ;-)
Cog and gear wheel can be obtained from a model shop.
