GP3 - urgent help...

by WCOutlaw_ » Thu, 03 Aug 2000 04:00:00

Hi guys,

I bought GP3 here in the UK 2 days early, and was greatly impressed,
GP2 was an awesome game, and all it needed was better graphics and
it would've been a great game for today. However GP3 easily beats GP2 now,
the only downfall I can make is that it is a lot easier to drive the car, in
GP2 I
was lucky (with my setup) to survive going over the curbs at monza, but in
GP3
you can get away with a  lot more mistakes like that...

I have one serious problem with GP3 playing, I bought a Logitech Wingman
Formula Force (FF) wheel and pedal set, and can't get the pedals working in
the game, despite using the wingman control set provided on CD, and also
I tried the no-CD patch as I thought that may help... I used to use my
joystick,
but as I ahev bought the wheel, I really want to use it, and it sucks not
being
able to use the pedals - Force Feedback works, and the wheel works - just
I have no gas/brake capabilities... :((((

Thanks for anyhelp,

Phil.

Make sure that you select combined pedals in either the profiler or the windows
setup.

Just out of interest, do you mean you can't use seperate axis pedals in GP3?
(I haven't bought it yet, but as soon as I upgrade my *cough*pentium
233*cough* I probably will do....)

Correct!

If you are GP2 fan buy it, but expect nothing more than GP2 with fancy graphics
and weather. The GP2 gameplay is still there, but for me I was very disappointed
that it hadn't all advanced further :-(

GP3 - urgent help...

Mark,

Thanks for the help, but I can't actually use the pedals at all - what
do I select them as under the accel/brake device?? I have tried combined
pedals, but am not sure if I'm doing stuff wrong, as I am new to the
wheel/pedal scene - having used a joystick all my *** career :))

Any pointers as to what I can do?? the wheel works, but pedals wont
respond in calibration or game itself when trying to race...

Thanks again for your help.

Check the box in windows controller config for combined axis, also if you have
the wingman profiler software loaded, make sure that the GP3 profile also has
combined axis checked.

In GP3 ensure that you select wheel as your controller or better create a custom
controller select the pedals as Joy A vert for both brake and accelerator. Or
load controller and look in the GP3 Cd under extras, there is a LWFF controller
set there which should get it all running fine.

I am off on holiday later today so have to leave you with it and wish you good
luck :-)) but keep fiddling, just remember the wheel as far as the software is
concerned is just a joystick so don't confuse yourself, combined axis will
report to windows 2 axis, one for left and right (steering wheel and one for up
and down (pedals) the same as your joystick.

I am assuming here you can use them in the windows test panel otherwise it may
be a different problem.

incorrect: GP3 supports split axis if you go to the
options/controls/advanced and check "use controller inputs" ore
something like that (it is a radiobutton at the right bottom).
the problem is: GP3 does not seem to work with the logitech wingman
formula force - I tried everything (yes: including combined axis), but
gas/brake did not work in GP3 ... wrote hasbro about it and they
suggested I should check the controller settings ... LOL
until they get it going, I am using the GP3.EXE from the warez version
(class), which at least works in combined axis mode ...

yep. physics- and funwise surely the best modern f1-sim, but no
milestone ...

Load configuration file for LWFF from http://www.racesimcentral.net/
I have it and wheel works fine.
