I'm guessing that GPL ran before you got the wheel. Does the wheel work
with any other games? Did you try reinstalling the wheel software? Any
error messages, or are you just getting a black screen? Some system specs
might help too.

Thanks for sharing that engrossing story about the new wheel.
Oh, and GPL doesn't work as well ! Too bad... Do you know why? :)
Do some troubleshooting.....
Is your new wheel selected in games controller as device #1?
Try deleting the following file from your players folder in GPL:
controls.cfg
try turning FF off and on via the GPL core.ini file
Try running GPL with your FF wheel turned off
Try uninstalling and re-installing your wheel's drivers
Try the wheel via your serial or USB ports to see if GPL will run then
Disconnect your wheel altogether.... will GPL now run? if not then
the problem is with your GPL installation.

-) have you got the latest drivers for the Ferrari wheel?
-) are you using DirectX 7a?
-) try switching off FF in the core.ini file and see if this makes it work,
not a solution I know, but it might give you valuable info.
-) check FF is working in other games
-) switch to the serial port connector
-) check if your V3 is sharing resources or conflicting with your USB (maybe
try the V3 in a different PCI slot?)
-) re-install GPL (make a copy of the whole GPL folder before you try this,
so you don't lose your setups and best laps)
-) check GPL 1.2 works when the wheel isn't connected, and check you have
the right country version of 1.2
-) check the wheel is working fine in the control panel
:)
