<snip>

When you get told to pit (either for a jump-start or for cutting the course)
you enter the pitlane and make sure to drive in *slowly* and stop as soon as
the board with your name on changes to a "wait" sign. Once the wait sign
disappears you are free to go. The amount of time waited depends on how
much advantage you gained by jumping the start or on which corner you cut.
There is no other reason to pit. (The only other scenario is when you drive
the wrong way round the track for any distance, then when you pit you'll
get a "DQ" board which means Disqualified)

Hi, I have two pcs, and my older pc is the same spec as your (a K6 200
with a 4mb V1 card). If you are not upgrading yet, try overclocking your
K6 to 225 (which is actually faster than a 233!) by increasing the
busspeed on your m/b fromm 66 to 75.

You could also overclock your V1 card?

3Dfx has made it easy to overclock the 3Dfx graphics accelerator cards,
the only thing you need to do is change (or add) one variable to your
AUTOEXEC.BAT file.

SET SST_GRXCLK=50 (The Default setting for the card, setting it to run
at 50Mhz)

Change the number to say, 55 by typing this in the AUTOEXEC.BAT file:

SET SST_GRXCLK=55

For the new setting to take effect you must reboot the pc.

The cards can be overclocked higher than 55 I've heard of people running
them at 59, But personally I would not go much above 56.

If you try these easy operations, and maybe add some more ram, you will
speed up your pc by quite a bit, and its cheap!!!

The pit sign disappeared because you rolled too far forward. You should then
back up slowly and stop when the sign reappears. You can then wait for the
sign to disappear indicating your time penalty is over. Then burn *** and
go catch the leaders. :-)

In that case it was just a very short penalty, presumably because you only
jumped the start by a little bit.
