Its a sound standard made popular through the SoundBlaster Live series of
cards, but supported on others as well.  A3D from the now bankrupt Aureal
company is/was the main competition in the sound arena but seems to be
destined for the same fate as the betamax video standard.  Darn shame - A3D
has some great 3d positioning.

LOL! Whatever did happen to Rendition anyway?  Were they acquired by someone
else?

  Micron bought them about two years ago.  They had a new product that
was on the level of the original TNT card, but the TNT2 was comming
shortly so they yanked that card and started work on something that was
supposedly better than a TNT2 level card.  But they haven't been heard
from since.  Two years now and even if they have something it must
already be obsolete with the Ge 15 and Voodoo 5.
