ICR2/Win95/Tire temps

ICR2/Win95/Tire temps

When I display tire temps in ICR2 (the Win95 version) I see the same
temperature for the inner, middle, and outer readings on each tire.
It makes it hard to know how to adjust the camber.  Does anyone else
see this problem?  Is it different in the DOS version?

If your temps are the same all the way across, you don't need to adjust your camber.

Dave,

If the temps are all the same, that is a perfectly balanced tire. You do
not want a tire to be hotter in one spot more than the other.

A couple of tips on camber: For ovals, you typically want as much negative
camber on the right sides and as much positive camber on the left sides as
you can get without getting the tire temps out of balance. For non-ovals,
you want negative camber on both sides, but usually a bit less on the side
to which you turn the most. Also keeping the tire temps balanced is usually
not quite as critical as on non-ovals courses.

I guess I'm guilty about not being clear.  I know that the ideal is to
adjust the camber to get even readings across the tire.  The problem
is that I always see even readings.  I tried radically changing the
cambers on the rears, for example, to the point that the car was almost
impossible to drive.  I would still see the same value for the three
readings on a given tire.

Hence my question: is it just me, or does anyone else see this with the
Win95 version of ICR2?  My sense is that most people are running the
DOS version, but that's only a guess.

Hi Dave:

I Installed the DOS to Win patch a few weeks ago.  I didn't like the
frame rate so I went back to using the DOS version.  I never got far
enough along to check the tire temp problem you stated.  Though the
paint shop is kind of nice in Win95, I get some crashes when using it...
