1:  Out of 7 cars that made the starting grid at Malaysia, 5 were Ferrari.
I don't know about you, but I think it'd be nice to have some variety on
the grid.  It would also help to identify different drivers.  Anyway, since
it wouldn't be fair to force people into slower cars, why don't we just run
with all cars physics set to the best car (Ferrari), and that way there is
no penalty for running in a different team.  F1RST2 provides this option
for setting car physics equal.

2:  Eldred will be out of town when the next race is scheduled, so is there
anyone who can step forward to host?  I just tested my connection and it
gave a result of 198 kbps for the upload speed, but I don't know how many
clients that would allow me to support.  Also, since Bahrain hasn't been
released, we should decide on an alternate.  I suggest A1 Ring since it
won't be on the real F1 calendar this season.

I'm going back to Jaguar for the next race...I just decided that I wasn't
good enough to stay in the Ferrari so I'll go back to the understeering POS.

I second A1 just because its in the game. Maybe for shanghi we can run an
add-on track of some sort. I downloaded Paul Ricard but haven't been able to
test it at all.

Does that also affect setups as well?  Meaning, would a setup on one type of
car transfer to another?  The only reason I drove a Ferrari in the past couple
races was that the Ferrari was the only setup I could find.  I used David's for
Australia, and Ian's for Malaysia.  If I had found a good setup for the
Williams I probably would have stayed in that car.

If the 'setting physics the same' allows that, then I'm all for it.

That doesn't bother me, but I'll change to a non-
Ferrari if everyone wants to do this.  I have wished
for individual helmet paint jobs to help identify drivers
in replays.

Isn't setting car physics equal going to be a problem
for people who have honed their skills and setups for
Williams or some other car?

Perhaps the person who won last season should choose a
car/driver, and work down the list.

I'm driving the original carset.  I'd like to update
to 2004.  Is this something that is done on an individual
basis?  Or does this require all drivers use the same
carset?  What carset do you folks recommend?

Or Bathurst?  That should be a challenging track.

Actually, the setups I've been using are 'tailored' for Ferrari, but I've
been driving the Williams.  You might have to change the gearing,
especially for those cars which only have 6 gears, but on the whole it
seems fine.  It won't be an issue though, since most setups are tailored
for the Ferrari, and we'd be running Ferrari physics for all cars.

What do the others think, sound good?

With my suggestion, you won't see a drop in performance.

An add-on would be interesting.  Another idea is to run the long version of
Hockenheim, since the 2002 version is the neutered one.

See my response to Eldred.

As of now, there is only one 2004 update, and it's not a complete one.
The car models weren't updated, just some skins, and driver names, etc.
The RH and CTDP updates are in progress and will be released some time
during the season.

You can get the RH2003 update.  Or the CTDP2003.  But keep in mind, we
are running in the 2002 season to make things easy for everyone.  I would
have preferred running RH2003 myself, but I guess some didn't want to
have to deal with downloading extra stuff.  If you are annoyed at the
non-tobacco liveries for the 2002 season, there is an update for that.
The only one I found is "high res" though, so maybe it would hurt your
FPS.  I have a powerful system so I use it.

Hmm didn't you say in another thread that you can't even run on that
track due to your system?

Hi Ped Xing:

I'm wondering if a Williams driver might want to drive
a Williams, for it's driving characteristics.

Running all cars with Ferrari physics is fine.  Either
is Ok with me.

I'm willing to run a second, or third, tier car, whatever
the physics.  I'm suggesting last season's winner have the
first choice of team/driver, and we can work our way down
the finish order.

I don't find the F1C carsets to be bad.  Just wondering
if a different carset could be run locally, without
impacting other drivers.

So what?  Eldred isn't planning on racing with us
that weekend, so I'll probably impose a 107% rule on
myself, unless someone else sucks so bad I have some
competition.

I think it would be fun to watch you guys race
Formula 1 cars over the dipper and through the esses
at Bathurst.

Ok, so where are we going?  I like A1 too.

So the strong get stronger.  Why not reverse it ala the NFL?
There is only 1 2004 carset out there now, it's the 2003 cars with
2004 liveries. FerrariF1fan I think is the website.

You might get away with Ferrari Fan's stuff since that is just paint.
But if you use the RH mod or the CTDP mod then everyone else will need that
mod.  If you watch the online sessions on F1rst2, 90% of the F1 races use
RH.

Find a version of Bathurst with a working pitlane and then float this
idea.  Bathurst is fun, when you have fenders to rub against those walls,
not sure I'd like to take an openwheeler there.

A1 is good if you don't want that Classic SteakSauce Flavor.
The Johnny Walker Steak Sauce is a new contender for Beef garnishments.

Ah but Mr. Henrie, the fast guys are already driving Ferrari (or McLaren).
So what difference will it make to run as spec Ferraris?  Anyway, it was
just a suggestion so we could get some visual diversity on the grid.

Because when Eldred first started hosting this, my wife was sleeping in on
Sunday mornings and I could run the F1 without interuptions.  But all of
the sudden she seems determined to wake up and go places, do things.

I keep *trying* to get to the computer on Sundays, but it has yet to
work out. Is it the A1 track tomoorow for sure? I can only promise to
try again to be there.

Password unchanged, I hope?
