The program won't even start up on my computer at the moment.  The
server list on racecast is dwindling down to nothing.  Is there a
problem with rFactor that I don't know about?

Looks like either the matching server is down,  or the next official
patch is being redied for release.  Both are pure conjecture on my part.

I wish it were the latter.  But I don't think it is, as rFactor is now
working.

Um, wait a minute.  A server problem can prevent the program from even
running?

Hmmmm.... Not good.  Not good at all.

rFactor always checks in when you first start the program.  Part of ISI's
copy protection.  There is a line you can edit that will turn off the net
check.  But I'm on a short lunch break and don't have time to track it
down.
Hopefully somebody else can fill in the blanks.

ok,  I found it...in the plr file.

this should only be needed when the matching server is down.  If you do
change this for offline sessions,  make sure to change it back when you
want to go back online...
___________
from the RSC troubleshooting thread:

in 'yourname.plr'
Turn off netcom by setting the option to 1, like explained below.

Disable NetComm="0" // If 1, network features are disabled

Dont forget to turn it back on if u wanna race online LOL
