OK, Don, I'm giving that a whirl. I spent an hour this evening at The
Ring and took 56 seconds off the PB there, with lots of room to go. I can
feel now that it can be done faster. Just 110 from my nearest competition
now...8^).

BTW, thanks for the kind words about the tune. Tomorrow's a studio night
so no driving for me tomorrow. This weekend's pretty tight too, what with
the GP in Montreal and Le Mans on Speedvision...but the big change is
that I can really -feel- that the speed will come. It's there, I just
have to reach it. It didn't seem do-able with the automatic transmission.
(BTW, I ditched the throttle and braking help as soon as I installed GPL
lo these many moons ago.) My thanks to you and all the others providing
morale support.

...so this Zen monk walks in to a pizzaria, walks up to the counter and
says, "Make me one with everything..."

(later)

...so the monk gets his pizza, hands the guy behind the counter a $50.00
bill. The guy says, "Thanks." and puts the fifty in the till and closes
the drawer. The monk hesitates a moment and then says, "Wait! What about
my change?" The guy behind the counter smiles serenely and says, "Aaahhh,
change must come from within."

I've read that wraped lap time only occurs in multiplayer games . True ?
If true why don't just use 2 different user in GPL, one for single player
and
another for multiplayer, so no more wrapped lap times in GPLRank.

For me the problem is simple, i don't have internet at home and don't have

the pleasure to beat real player :o(
But i'm really friend with mister John "i take all the place in your
mirrors" Surtees :o)

This new GPLRank is very motivating to practice all the original
tracks again (I was mostly playing the converted tracks since the
coverter was released). The only track I allmost never drove was
Mosport, so to get my handicap a little lower I had to practice this
one. Very fun but frustrating track, I'm down to 1:25.xx now.

I did a 8:20 on the Ring more than a year ago, but later I got some
warped times on my record list, didn't know about editing the
player.ini, so to remove the warped times I deleted my best laps list.

To get my handicap down I had to set a new pb on the Ring also.
Practiced yesterday, a lap or 10, and my fastest lap was 8:33.
I don't know how the hell I did that 8:20 lap more than a year ago...

I hope every GPL driver will join the list, some big names are missing
now (Woeger for example).

Arrrgh! You are fast, Ken! Definitely faster than me, anyway ;-) (and I have
had GPL for over a year)
Hopefully, as you say, JP Hovercraft is still here at the bottom of the list
to make us feel better. Thank you JP! (I have seen, Eldred's times, this guy
is really too fast for us!)
It may be very mean, but I really pray that JP never gets his celeron! With
this kind of machine, he will swiftly beat my poor ranking... <G>

I contemplated deleting all my best laps and starting again to give a more
honest ranking based on my *current* abilities rather than the best times
I've had over the last two years.

But I'm not doing it unless everyone else does it at the same time <g>.

Wanna hear something funny?  I've been trying to get a couple friends of mine
to learn GPL, so I could race them.  They're both scared to race - they think
*I'm* too good... LOL!

Careful Eldred, you may get that awful result when you finally
get them to try it...you know the feeling of watching them
use the keyboard and blitz your best times after their first
or second time... :)

I had a friend over on Friday who was curious about FF in games. So I let

gave him control on the straight, he didn't make it to Curva Grande without
spinning (F3, BTW). I think Eldred (and the rest of us simracers) are safe
for the time being. ;-)

Seriously, every game genre has it's learning curve... which takes a mixture
of talent (none present here) and determination/fascination with the subject
(got loads of that) to overcome. Anyone taking the time to come to grips
with racing simulations and competing is a worthy addition to the community,
IMO.

I thought about the same thing.  Maybe keeping one install for just 'offline'
races, so I don't have to worry about warps, or anything...

I don't have any warped times in my list, it's just that I'm not as fast
as I used to be! Not far off, but on a day to day basis I can't get very
close to my best laps at all :-)
