You're still playing N3?

I suspect there is a core group with older hardware that will stick with
N3 for some time...and....those online Degaheads that can't adjust to the
left pulling driving of N4/N2002 will also stay with heads buried in the
sand for a while yet.

Yes I'm still playing N3. I have 2 older (400Mhz) pc's networked in my home
and I still enjoy playing N3 with my kids. I'm not about to go out and buy 2
new pc's just to keep up with the newest version of a game. The hardware
requirements of N4 and N2002 are too demanding on older systems, so at least
for the near future I'll be playing N3. Eventually I'll upgrade, but all in
due time...

Don't let this come as a shock to ya' but in about a year or 2 your systems
will be obsolete also when the newest version of your favorite sim requires
a 3 or 4 gig cpu to run it...

Thanks for the helpful responses.

That isn't a shock to anyone, they probably had to buy a new computer to
play some of the more recent games. It is all just your priorities, yours
are obviously not in sim racing.

IMO, the best thing to ever happen to N3 online racing was the release
of N4. Most of the kiddies,  wreckers and other c00l Dudez went there.

You got that right...lol

Here's a thought...now let me see...if I add 512 more megs ram and a 64mb
video card and upgrade to a 2gig cpu I'll be able to play the latest version
of speed racer...that is...till about August when the new version of it is
released which requires even more hardware. That, along with the Windows
XP-II upgrade, which by the way I will definitely have to add to stay on top
of the game. So by then I'll need to purchase a new mother board with more
bus speed so I can....LOL

It's like pickin' fly shit out of pepper...it never ends............
In other works...as long as what you have is working for ya'...why bother?

And by the way, why must a few individuals in this NG act like pompous
asses, giving worthless responses to those who simply ask for info?

Have fun
Tom

You would be surprised to see that many people, still race N3.  There's
people all the time in N3's WON system.  It runs great on anybody's PC with
full graphics.  It's also much easier of course then N4 and NR2002.

Nothing pompous about Stuarts response. Simply a fact of life for sim
enthusiasts. If arcade with the kids is your bag, good luck to you, but why
diparage those who choose to spend their hard earned bucks on staying on the
technological cutting edge??

Computer technology remains in a state of flux, and it makes good sense to
consistently upgrade your machine , a small bit at a time, rather than to
wait until your PC becomes an expensive doorstop, and require complete
replacement, and you have to shell out the big bucks again.

As I said before, Whatever floats your boat. Personally a 2Ghz P4 with
1024Mb Rambus RAM, an 84Gb 7200 RPM HDD, a GeForce4 adapter with full
SoundBlaster Live! surround sound  floats mine

Does that make me pompous?? I dont think so. It just makes paying my credit
card bills more of a challenge
