Which explains why I'm having so much fun with it using my Wingman
RumblePad. :) RSC is like 75% arcade and 25% sim - standard console
fair I guess.

I've always wanted to pick it up but when it came out I was stuck with
a k6-2 500/voodoo 4 which didn't really cut the mustard. Just playing
the demo with the keyboard, it's possibly the most fun I've had with
an arcade racer, and it has a better damage model than any Papyrus or
ISI simulation. =)
I'm still disappointed, as far as arcade racers go, that EA made such
bad use of the ISI engine instead of just porting the XBOX Nascar
Thunder 2003 to the PC. It's more convincing despite using a less
refined physics engine, has much more immersion, more modes, and a
fantastic kick-your-ass-repeatedly career mode.

A rally sim with 2-3 minute stages is like a NASCAR sim without
pitstops or cousins groping on a trailer in the infield. There are
certain defining characteristics of each form of motorsport, and in
rally the stages define the sport. The focus isn't on the drivers, as
in F1 or NASCAR, or on the cars as in WSC - it's on the stages. Why
no one with a rally license realizes that is beyond me.

Not in the demo no... I think it was either fixed in the release or patched.
Don't hold your breath, however, as driving it with an FF wheel seriously
killed the magic of the demo for me.
Also beware you've all but seen it's best trick. Hardly any of the other
cars and courses in the game are quite as good.
Yeah, it was a great demo and, at bargain price, I'm sure the game is worth
splashing out on too.
At least with the ISI engine it's "mod-able" <g>
Jan.

As far as FF goes. I don't use it, so I suppose that's an advantage.
Ouch. That certainly sucks, altho in all honesty if I could get my MS
wheel working well in the demo that would be nearly enough to keep me
entertained.
I've always wanted to make a mod that was totally and ridiculously
undriveable, then get an inside-joke type thing going with some
prominent RAS and VROC people so they'd keep posting here how
incredible it was and so forth. How many months till 4/1?

If you find RSC too easy on both Beginner and Normal, here is a crack
file that has Ludicrous difficulty set with all cars and all tracks
available. Enjoy.
Put this file (backup old file first, duh) and overwrite in your
c:/windows/application data/microsoft/rallisport
