I finally saw some pictures of the Lauritz ring...it's big flat
tri-oval...more in the line of what could be termed a Roval.(somewhat
similar to Pocono)  Cart's next event is there....I Wonder how the Germans
will take to the event?

God knows. CART have scored a huge own-goal by preventing Eurosport from
showing either race live.

Pocono is a 'tuff' track with out really any banking! It is less
then 2hrs from me. I always wondered why they designed it
this way? Anyone?

Pocono was first an Indycar track.  The turns supposedly model the big 3
tracks of the day...Turn one was a dead ringer for the Indy 500 track.  Turn
two....I forget...:)  and turn 3 was tight like Milwaukee.
However the Pocono  track was way too bumpy due to the cold winters and
the Indy/Champ cars don't race there anymore.
I think Al Unser Sr. was the only guy to win all three 500 mile events in
one year....Indy, Pocono, and Ontario.
(or that may have been in one calendar year spread over two seasons)

Well, I love the decision as it's broadcast by ARD (German public television),
so NO commercials... ;) Of course, I hope that this is not the only European
TV station broadcasting the race.

Channel 5 (UK network) showed the full molson indy vancouver cart race last
night in the wee small hours.  There were still commercial brakes, but they
were only small.  Not live, but all there in the end.
I get eurosport as well, though.

cheers

Hmmm...

I always thought that turn 2 was a copy of a turn from Indy...

Also, wasn't there some relationship between USAC and Pocono that prevented
the CART cars from running there?

I'll be at the CART-race at Lausitzring from Friday to Sunday. There
will be an ASCAR-race too (british-NASCAR). So much Amercian
motorsports - I can't believe it!
Anybody else there ? Maybe we can meet at the track.
Happy racing

Can't afford it I'm afraid. My newly bought apartment will take all the
funds for this autumn.

However: Important information for the Scandinavians on this
newsgroup.

Swedish SVT1 will broadcast both the european races from 13:30 to
16:00 live, commercial free, without Janne Tromark. It will the best
CART coverage of the year. So for the lucky bastards who will attend,
set your videorecorders.
