The only person I know that doesn't let off is my friend who owns a
Toyota Tercel 5 speed, and his piston rings are all burned off, you know
what from? Overrevving. He does let off the gas in his car, but slips
the clutch like crazy. In the game he doesn't let off at all, and he
says, "it won't hurt it.." hehhe...yeah right.
Anyway, enough with the story telling, yes, it will hurt the motor,
you can blow it. I haven't figured out exactly when the engine blows,
but I have blown it from over revving in between shifts. It was really
wierd. Engine running strong, coming down the front strech at South
Africa, overreved it just a little bit going into 4th gear, and
BAM...flames, motor parts, and no revs. The m***of the story is, let
off in between gears. You don't even have to let off all the way, once
you get the experience, you can let off to about 1/2-3/4 throttle so
that it almost sounds like an automatic when you shift. Hope that
helps.
