On-Line Racing Standards

Now that TEN is unfortunately dust (and given what nonsense I've seen with
WON so far, it will be sorely missed), I wonder if this isn't the right time
to develop some 'standardization' for these open on-line races.

I'll start with one that really isn't my idea.  I saw it last night, and I
think it's a great idea.

It has to do with starting your screen name with the type of connection you
have.  For example, mine is:

CABLE-Larry

This indicates that I have a Cable connection.

It could have been:

ADSL-Larry
or
MODEM-Larry
or
LAN-Larry

Depending on the connection type.

I like to see this, especially when deciding what races to host.
Consistantly, hosts with ADSL or Cable are hosting the best races.  I hosted
one at Dega, and there were NO complaints about lag, warp, or anything.

The more people that start doing this, the better the online experience will
be, IMHO.

We are also going to need private leagues.  Open races, well, suck so far.
Without any sort of scoring system, it seems to bringing the worst out of
many people :(

Online racing really got shafted with the TEN/POGO disaster :(
