Burnout CDR: Non-PCE Edition questions

by Paul Reit » Tue, 06 Jun 2000 04:00:00

I have had Burnout for a while now but I recently built a new PC and I
am now having problems.  It is an Athlon based system, Abit KA7
motherboard and a 3dfx V3 2000 PCI graphics card.  I am running 98 SE,
Directx 7.0a and a Thrustmaster T2 steering wheel.

My problem is that I can load the game (version 1.23) with no problem.
I am trying to run the 3dfx version of the game.  I can get to the
setup screens without a problem. I can calibrate the wheel and assign
the left, right, gas, and brake, no problem.

My problem is when I try to enter the race track.  I am immediately
booted out of the game back to the Windows desktop.  I am thinking
that this is a configuration issue with my V3 card or I need to run
the game out of DOS.  I have tried running out of DOS the game locks
up to the point that I need to hard boot.   I am running the card at
170 MHz (cooled), and I have tried running the game at stock settings.
No luck.  Any help with this would be appreciated.  Thanks,

Paul

you need a specific version of glide in your burnout directory, here's a

Enjoy.
