I was apprehensive, as I hate changing my pc set-up if it is working
well, and it has been for ages.
So with crossed fingers I finally installed Directx7. All seemed to go
ok, although, I haven't tried most of my other games (Rally Masters,
TOCA2, RC2000, GP2, etc) to see if they work yet?
Then I installed the Direct3D patch, again it all went terribly well.
Then I read the readme file for the necessary changes to the GPL
core,ini file, easy enough.
Finally, I fired up GPL fully expecting it to fall over, but no, all
went well, I changed the options to the Direct3D setting, and even
turned up a few graphics options, started a race, and it worked fine and
looked great.
The mirrors are awesome, loads of detail, much better than the old
mirrors.
And it seems to perform well on my pc, I get roughly the same fps
(pretty much 36 all the time) with slightly more graphics options on
(I've turned on skids, and upped the mirror detail, and upped the detail
bias slightly).
Thank you, thank you, thank you Papy.
Go get the patch, its well worth it.
8-)
