N99: New Vegas AI?

I decided to have a little GPL vacation and try NR99 instead now that
it finally works properly with my wheel. The problem is, the Las Vegas
AI is blowing me away at even 97%. They accelerate out of corners on
the ouside line like there's no tomorrow.

What is the best fix for the AI and where can I get it?

The best fix: Practice.

Sorry, I couldn't resist.  It sounds like you might be "attacking" the
track instead of driving it?  That is, it's better to enter the curve
slower in order to set up your exit.  Exit speed is far more important
than entry speed. Especially at Vegas. Give yourself a bit more time to
get acquainted with the characteristics of Vegas.  I did, and I was
rewarded with some extremely competitive default AI... like being in
middle of a 3-wide sandwich quite often!  Love it.

I am comfortable with the track, and by letting the gas off a little
before the turn and then braking slightly in the apex I can catch the
AI cars and get alongside, but then they just outaccelerate me on the
outside coming out of the turn! This is the only track I've seen this
happening yet in N99, though they seem to fly at Darlington (a track
that I ruled in N2, sniff sniff).
