Yes, I think the default for F1RS gives you a large deadzone. There
are several things you can look at to fix this:
* Ensure that your steering wheel is defined not as a joystick, but as
a "race car controller" within Win95's "Game Controllers" applet;
* I'm assuming you've moved the "steering sensitivity" slider bar
within F1RS close to 100%, but it's no surprise if you haven't.
UbiSoft did a great job in hiding a lot of things in their enigmatic
menu layout. I have it at about 75% or so;
* I recall trying the deadzone utility, but I don't think it worked
for me. Guy Cote was kind enough to send me a set of dinput.dll
files, with the deadzone adjusted from 5% down to 0%. I'm currently
using the 0% version of this file, which I'll email to you.
With all these, combined with a TSW, I have a steering setup with
excellent feel...much better then anything I could get with GP2. If I
ever have an off-track excursion in F1RS, it's never due to a lack of
steering feel, but to pilot error. :) With your ECCI and these
suggestions, you should be able to also get very responsive and
predictable steering with F1RS.
