Hello all, wonder if f1rs is available yet in Canada, specifically in
the Toronto area.
Also want to know if the sim will work on my 2d card or do I need the
3dfx card? If so which card? Thanks.

a 3dfx card is only necessary if you want to experience the
total package. IMHO it is worth the $150 price. As for which
card? I have the Diamond Monster 3D, and use the drivers from
www.3dfx.com . This card has been a major boost to my PC
*** which includes flightsims.

Last I heard it's a couple of weeks away from release here.

I don't think a 3DFX card is necessary, but you'll be missing certain
graphics features without it, mostl;y a frame rate boost. I have a
Diamond Monster3D, but any add-on 3DFX card will do. The Canopus Pure
3D gets's the edge though because it has 4mb of texture memory
compared to 2mb on the other boards. Don't get a 3DFX Rush board
(2s/3d) because they are a little slower and not all 3DFX games will
run on it. If you can hold on another couple of months then I would
suggest forking out for Voodoo2 (3DFX) as it comes with quite a
performancwe boost over the current boards according to preliminary
tests. If money is a problem then just get a current 3DFX board
because Voodoo2 will probably be about $250.0 U.S., but you can get
Voodoo1 for about $150.00 U.S. now.

I don't know if you have those stores outside Qubec in Canada. but every
Price Costco has it since 2months now in Canada ! They are the only official
seller I think for the first two months. That's what a vendor there told me
(well there is no vendor but I talked to a guy with a Price Costco uniform
;-)   ).

54.95$ CAN. That ain't so bad.  And it's so smooth on my PII 266 +
Velocity128 AGP.  The only flaw is those darn contours I have when it's
raining. each sprites has a black contour around it.  Oh yeah also those
poor wheel with the outside bigger than the inside <g>.

Yes it's available in Canada. I picked it up locally (in Winnipeg) a
couple of weeks ago and have been enjoying it ever since. Find a store
that sells Euro imports as I don't think the North American version
has been released yet...

We have Costco here in Vancouver, but you need a membership and I'm
not paying for one for just F1RS.

Re: F1RS in Canada

It's not around in Vancouver for awhile yet according to the normal
retailers. But - www.interactcd.com will be shipping into Canada as
soon as available and their shipping it Canada is very reasonable.

This goes away and the tires look normal when you use the display
setting that gives maximum paint-ahead distance, at least on a Voodoo
card.

And will the frame-rate still be solid with this setting, on a P200
w/Voodoo?
