TM Pro Digital 2 - retiring?

by DJSpeed » Sat, 06 Mar 2004 08:37:11

My 4yo Pro Dig 2 wheel finally died, so to speak - the gas pot actually went
out  - so out I went to get another 2 weeks ago.

Well, 2 days ago, the same thing happened to the new one...so back it went.
Was going to get another for $10 cheaper ($39.99) at CompUSA, but they're
out of stock.  Same with TM's site - no longer available.

That leads me to believe that the Pro Dig 2 is on the way out at TM.

Given that - what type of pot would I need for fixing my original?  And is
there a diagram somewhere that shows where the wires go?  I'm no electronics
genius, so obviously I'd like to do this right the first time.

Failing that - what non-FF alternatives are there for $50 (my amount of COH)
or less?

Why not just google, or ebay, or whatever and find an online supplier that
still has some PD2's in stock still.
Oddly enough, i called it quits on non-ff wheels after wearing out my 2'nd
PD1, and buying the PD2 and realizing how much cheaper the construction was.
God bless my red and my black MOMO's :)

Gee...DUH!...that would be too easy now, wouldn't it??  :-)

That's the first thing I did, actually...there's a few Googled sites in
Russian and Chinese, or have otherwise non-existant links, and most of the
rest seem to be reviews, or other mentions of the wheel.

E-bay - nada - all kinds of MOMO's, one going for over $210(?!?) at the
present time...

E-bay clone E-Biddin - found 1 that has a reserve...grrrr....

But that aside, I did see the Wingman GP for $39.99...in the price range I'm
looking for, but don't know about the quality.

Found a black MOMO FF for $54.95 at
http://store.yahoo.com/justdeals/wheels.html though, but they're out of
stock..figures...

Therefore, I figured it MIGHT be cheaper to just replace the pot, rather
than buying a whole 'nother wheel...

Plus the fact that CompUSA reduced the price on it $10 this past week, leads
me to believe that TM is doing away with this wheel - same thing happened
with my first TM wheel - forget what it was now lol...

Try to track down an MS Sidewinder.  There are still a few sites out
there that have them (trying to track one down myself).

Here you go, CompUsa still has the original USB MSFF:

$51.35.  Best wheel you're going to find in that price range.

Thanks Jason.  I've actually found some high-quality FF MOMO's on E-Bay for
cheap (ATM)...I'm watching them to see where they might end up...I figure if
I end up with a FF wheel, I can always disable the FF option in the game,
right?  :-)

If you want non-FF, do a search on ebay for the regular usb microsoft
sidewinder wheel.  I have 2 of them and they've lasted for years.  Out
of a dozen wheels they're the only ones I've had any luck with. =)

Ok.  Truth be known, I think I like the look of the MOMO better.  :-)
