NFSHP2 vs. Act Labs Force RS

by jwillia » Tue, 04 Mar 2003 13:23:41

I'm hoping someone can help me with this.  I'm playing NFSHP2 with an
Act Labs Force RS steering wheel and pedal combo.  During the game
I'll be racing and everything is fine then I get bumped and the
steering goes crazy, I have no control over the throttle (it seems to
default to fully opened) and I cannot steer.  If I pause the game,
unplug the power from the steering wheel and plug it back in, I regain
control and am able to drive again.  Needless to say this isn't a fix
I want to have to live with.  Has anyone seen similar issues and if so
is there any kind of fix.  I'm loving the game, I'm not loving the
headaches.

I'm running Windows XP Professional, DirectX 9, with the latest Force
RS drivers (2.52 I think)

NFSHP2 vs. Act Labs Force RS

I'm running the Force RS with pedals using v2.5 driver on a WinXP Home
machine, DirectX 8.1. No problems on this or variety of other racing/rally
games with the wheel. I also had NFSHP2 running well on a Win98 machine
with the wheel/pedals using original drivers  (c1998).

The problem begins when you get bumped ? What happens if you bump an
opponent ? What if you alone run into a wall ?

Before you unplug the wheel, can you get to the control panel\game
controllers\act-labs Force RS\properties and see if the pedals and wheel
still affect the indicators ?

What settings are you using ? From the control panel... I turned off
operate pedals separately and all the gains are set at 100% except spring
(at 13%). From the game, aside from customizing buttons, I left force
feedback settings and deadband at the default 100% and 0% respectively.

Try tech support at http://www.actlab.com.

Good luck. Let me know if there's anything else I can check on my system
for you.
