GP3 updates

by Kevin Barne » Mon, 25 Jun 2001 16:14:32

I bought GP3 when it was released and wasnt very impressed at the time. I
now feel it is time to give it another go, could someone tell me where i can
get any patches for it and also can i get this seasons car updates. Is there
anything else worth getting (Tracks Etc).

Thanks

Try...

They have a lot of stuff! Get the official patch and then use the
NOCD patch which will allow you modify the game with things like
GPxPATCH and use GP3 Editor or GP3 Master to download/modify carsets,
tracksets and physics editors, etc.

I'm racing the fictitious "Honza" track with GPxPatch for swapping
tracks and giving 3D sound and on-screen timing info. GP3Video allows
very long replays and is a must! Depending upon the length of a race,
you could replay the entire race.

In summary, the following is recommended...

1. Official Patch
2. NOCD patch
3. GP3Video
4. GPxPatch
5. GP3 Editor or GP3 Master
6. 2001 Carsets (with a Physics Editor for 2001 performance)
7. 1998 Track Updates
8. 2000/2001 Monza, Indy and Sepang Tracks
9. Your choice of other tracks (eg "Honza")

Some car setups might b a good idea too but I find that I have to
modify most of them to suite my driving style. But they're a good
baseline to build from though!

Hope this helps.

PS - an official 2000 update is due to be released soon (well,
anytime this year as it's been delayed a few times). This will give
you 17 tracks and also 3D sound (using EAX). However I believe that
you will have to pay for this update. But the un-official stuff does
most of it already!

But the un-official stuff does

FWIW I find that GP3 with the aformentioned patches, tweaks and addons,
gives me the most overall satisfying racing experience of the three major
modern-era contenders.

Go here: www.Grand-Prix-3.de and download their GP3 Update. It's large; 85
megs, but well worth it. It includes all the best add-ons for GP3 in one
package. I highly recommend it.

Note:
It works best on a fresh install of GP3 patched to version 1.13.
