GP3: Problems with updated skins

by Guenter Zollfran » Sat, 05 Aug 2000 04:00:00

Hi,

there are a lot of new car designs out now, so I decided to install cars
from the 2000 season.
This caused main problems: some teams become 'ghostcars', only the wheels
and underbody can be seen, and sooner or later the game crashes back to the
desktop.
First I thought, special skins were corrupted, but it turned out that the
effect depended on the number of modified cars I used. So did the new
Ferrari work, when I had only 3 more cars modified, but the Prost would not.
When I replaced the Prost with the original file and updated other cars,
suddenly the Ferrari would not work any more...
ATM I have installed only 3 new skins (and 2 dashes) and everything is
working.

Might this be a problem of color palettes???
Maybe it would work with a desktop set to 'true color' (did not try it
yet)???
Did anybody notice similar effects???
and... does anyone know, how to solve the prob???

TIA
Zolli

Yeah, same prob here, No probs when running with a couple of cars, but
as soon as a updated all to season 2000 (by FH) I've been getting
crash-to-desktops, only solved by putting original JAMS back, Still it's
early days yet and I really thought they were a bit quick with the
Editors, Time to wait for Jam Editor V2 Perhaps?

The 2000 cars work fine for me.

Yes I encountered the same problems. Was only able to fix it by reinstalling
the original JAMS from the CD.
Certainly very disappointing. The Ferarris and McLarens just look so plain.

Work totally fine with me. I've taken the***Yr 2000 Car Set - and will
procede to edit them until they look something like Yr 2000 cars. (Lots of
big obvious mistakes at the moment, give me a day!!)

Hmmm, I used a mix of cars, along with some***pits, so I'll try to
start from scratch and find the "culprit"

The culprit must be***pits - because I've used lots of cars, and had no
trouble (P3-500 256Mb G400 Marvel)

Get the right carsets.  No problem changing to 2000 cars.  They look wonderful.
