GPL: Is It Possible?

Hey all, everyone, etc...   Has anyone beaten the computer cars at Monza, with
no modified ai settings?  I can't even touch these guys there, and was
wondering if it was possible...  I Love that track, man it's fun.

My first win was on Monza, quite soon actually after buying the game
(a month or 2). I managed pole position, and could creap in front of
the pack in the first corner. And then I must say I held up the pack a
number of times ferociously, haha, but I won!
I redid that a long time later, when I really started to learn how to
drive. It was a Lotus; the Ferrari setups of Alison have made my 'Best
Laps' page mostly red, except for Monza, Zandvoort (1.27:83 in the
Lotus, my only track record, although the Ferrari drives LOVELY there)
and eh, the other slips my mind.

I use a single-axis wheel. I hate it now almost because I can't do
trailbraking the way I want to; it's too abrupt going off the gas to
braking.

I will beat the AI at every race at monza, it's a great track, one I
will probably never get sick of (I never got into the Glenn, for some
reason).   Try Wofgang Woeger setup as a base for your monza setup and
your car flies around the track leaving the AI for dead.  Also ever
since I started using Ian Lake's setup for the ring I am going faster
and faster and the car is a pleasure to drive.
I found that for a long time I thought I was consistent and had  very
good control of the car, but my lap times never really changed. One
day I tried one of the hotlapper's setup and on my first lap i did
1:28.01 which is nearly 2 seconds faster than my fastest.
I've looked and tried many setups until I finally understood what I
need to get out of the car in a given circuit.
GPL has been on my computer ever since it's release and to this day I
still can help saying that it has to be the greatest sim ever released
to date.  But I still think that a modern F1 sim is needed. and
whoever does it has to have the GPL engine as the standard to start
with.
