I just got NR for my birthday over the weekend and I have a few
questions...

I have to select 'calibrate joystick' in the technical menu every time
we play or there's no joystick control.  Is this normal?  When we get a
wheel & pedal setup, will it be the same deal?

Is there anyway to get out of that annoying "retire" mode when you
choose to end a race?  Or do you have to sit there for 2-3 minutes until
it's done playing?

The sound volume level control menu doesn't seem to be working.

I wasn't sure whether I wanted to shell out $$ for this game or not...
my husband and kid like it a lot -- if one's not into *** online
racing, it's a lot of fun.  I never had the time to devote to NASCAR 2,
so I never learned to pit very well -- between telling the invisible
crew what to do and negotiating pitroad, it was a disaster -- so NR's
auto pitting is kind of nice, though it really loses a lot of realism
that way (yeah I know, what a contradiction).

if ya want an arcade game, take Nasrev back, and go buy Nascar99 and set the
drive mode to arcade. The graphics are the best thing about Nasrev and they
go into slow motion on a p2-450 with 128mb of ram and a 12mb voodoo2 video
board. If it cant run on that, then it's the problem.

never had that problem, make sure your joystick is calibrated properly under
windows control panel, joysticks(game controllers, whatever)

I never saw how to avoid this very annoying thing. I wanted to quit so bad
after playing the game and it wouldnt let me<G>. Guess that's the revolution
part: once you start, they make you wait on them before you can end the
game.

Do yourself and other racers a favor and spend a little time with N2. I
think if you could you would like it a lot better than EA's game. If nobody
bought games like Nasrev, EA would be forced into developing a high quality
racing game: something they seem to be able to do well in other sports. (why
cant they do it on the racing end?). What I want to know is what happened
from the demo to the full version? C***te was fun at least on the demo.
In the full version, its not.
Good luck,
Phillip

THe latest ad in ESPN MAG contains a 2 page ad for Nascar Revolution that
mostly shows dale Earnhardt in real life races and 2-3 pics of the game with
the phrase
"The first racing sim you dont need a physics degree to drive!"

Yeh you dont need any talent to drive it... and no brain required
to know its junk. Suppose to be a patch in a week or 2, maybe then the game
will be better...

Actualy whoever bought it for ya did :(

Shoulda let them read this group for a while before they went
shopping.

NR1999 by Sierra/Papyrus is buggy as a swamp, but as I hear it it is a
far better experience than revolution.

Hmmm, a thought folks, if this was supposed to be an evolution in
software sim racing, yet has been obviously deemed a flop. Then
perhaps the evolution of nascar revolution would have been better
named nascar devolution <G>.

The word out is this:  If you're a fan of "cartoon" racing games (see EA's
Nascar 99 for Nintendo 64) then NASCAR Revolution is for you.  IT takes a lot
out of your hands, like pitting.
If you'rea *** racing sim fan and spend more time on TEN then yur probably
should, then Papyrus' Nascar99 (or Nascar2) is for you.
