Help with Pacejka Simulation.

by Zealous Apath » Sat, 02 Oct 2004 14:59:16

Hey all,

Hopefully there's some physics-minded people on this group :)

I'm currently trying to implement a simulator using Pacejka's magic
formula. The simulation is starting to drive ok, but it tends to steer
like a forklift. What I mean is, the back kicks out when cornering. From
what I can tell this is because the slip angle on the rear wheels goes
out to the wrong side then comes back. After this the car turns ok for
the rest of the corner.

Has anyone else seen behaviour like this? Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks,

Hard to say what the problem might be, any chance you can post some
code? Just guessing with no information, but be sure to check all of
your inputs. In particular your wheel heading and contact patch
velocity vectors, since that's what generates the slip angle.
