Just to add my two cents, a lot of people with 8MB cards have been
complaining in the flight-sim newsgroup that they are getting
considerably more (and annoying) stuttering from texture thrashing on
the 8MB cards.

It's probably not as big an issue with driving sims since flight-sims
require more terrain textures at once but is certainly an issue to
consider.  Especially since driving games, as they get more realistic in
the near future will most assuredly contain more textures...

Your last sentence would be correct if you hadn't included the word
"any".
This is very untrue for most D3D versions...

Hehe.  Well it ran OK on my wife's Mystique, so I assumed any.  Sorry for
the confusion, didn't know it had probs on other D3D hardware :-)
