There always seems to be a lack of "constructive criticism" in here...

This is not good. This forum should be the "ultimate" in getting ideas,
and legitimate complaints across to ya guys, without being vicious. It
seems a lot of people hit the keyboard without "thinking" first.

There are many of us who DO appreciate having Papyrus employees reading
this group. Unfortunately, there are MANY who post without a clue...
Obviously if they knew better, they'd know that Papyrus employees are
actually quite stealth in the hind quarters! ;)

I think we should start a new newsgroup called
 rec.n2.iwantagamesave.simulators    ;)

I'm lost and I've gone to look for myself.

: >Maybe if it pisses em off they will get off their fat asses and do
: >something about it.

: I can assure you that your post has not inspired me in any way to do
: anything about anything.

: We are working on several issues that we know are not right. However,
: experience has shown us that pretty much anything we say about patches,
: upcoming releases, upcoming features, etc in rec.auto.sim comes back to
: bite us.

: Most of the Papyrus employees that read r.a.s. are here reading these
: posts and responding on our own time, from our own accounts. Posts like
: yours don't do much to inspire management to take r.a.s. seriously...

: Papyrus, speaking for myself here.

Jim, thanks for taking the time to respond to an idiot.  And people
wonder why we don't hear more from the people behind the products we
love so much!

My hats off to the folks at Papyrus.  NASCAR2 (even with it's few
minor flaws) was a wonderful early Christmas present.  I am more than
pleased with the final product.  Great work!  Remember for every 1
idiotic moronic post you read here there are at least a 1000 happy,
loyal Papyrus fans.  We may not all be pleased with one or 2 things with
the product, but we have faith that the bugs will be taken care of.  And
maybe if we ask real nice, Adam will put you all back to work on the
Save Game feature.

Thanks again for allowing me the opportunity to have a great time racing
NASCAR!

SIERRA - Where is the patch for Nascar2 ?

Oh isn't this post just so lovey dovey.

Some people act like a dog around here.

Now I'm happy with the response from Papy. They should let us know
what's happening. We didn't buy it for obvious bugs. If they don't do
it here they either gonna get a returned product or a lot of phone
calls. So to threaten us isn't in their best interest either.

Obviously expecting something overnight is ridiculous. But IMO for
general issues that are bugged, we should be looking at the latest
January 1, 1997. If nobody is pulling our chain, somebody stated you
guys had to wait 9 months for a ICR2 patch, well that is also
ridiculous on their end.

I think it's fact to say they released this program with bugs known to
them. I don't feel we should have to completely roll over, when this
tactic is made by a software company.

My word on it is fix the stuff that the manual that doesn't work. Then
go to the save if you choose, and by the looks of it you should include
a save.

Again thanks for the response, Adam. But also remeber you did let down
a LOT of people with the save, me excluded since I run shorter races. I
was let down with simple (common) bugs, that should be able to be fixed
quickly. So with that Papy/Sierra should understand the critisism. I'm
sure there had to be a programmer there somewhere that was saying to
the executives, this program isn't ready and shouldn't be shipped.
Exec's won again.

Again, well said.

: As a programmer (not Sierra/Papyrus) I have to remind folks who are
: already demanding a patch that these things cannot be turned out
: overnight. We sometimes work 14 hour days meeting deadlines..and generally
: once the project is completed, there is another one to begin right away.
: Rest? LOL...a neat concept but not a reality for most of us. As Mr.
: Sokoloff posted they are aware of several issues and Papyrus has always
: been very thorough in their work. N1 was 99.9% bug free after the second
: patch..the only problems being an occassional HOG and the annoying 56-mph
: pit speed goof while using autobrake. Enjoy the sim, note any problems,
: post them, and I'm sure if the problem is more than just esoteric it will
: be addressed in the near future. We all know about the save race feature,
: continuing to post about it is wasting band width. Thanks.

I will agree with everything you stated.  However, Sierra/Papyrus
dropped the ball BIG time when it came around to fixing ICR2.  I think
we had to wait 9 months for a patch.  A note to Sierra/Papyrus -- Do Not
do this with NASCAR2.  Beside the die-hard simmers, you now have 1000's
of new Race Sim buyers for this product.  This may be their first
impression of Sierra/Papyrus, don't turn them off by not fixing the few
minor problems in a timely manner.
