The program now crashes (or locks up) when exiting a time trial session
via the Escape key menu (Race Again = No). Also, getting some texture-
related garbage on-screen at 1024, 1152, 1280 resolutions. Everything
else on this computer works fine at this point - running a V3 3000 with
non-Quake3 drivers and DX6.1 installed. Anybody else having problems
or must I once again perform an autopsy on the dead software (or just
reinstall the original!)...??

I'm having similar probs. After loading the patch, the game locks after the
sprint race in
championship mode, and after trying to change a car set-up (note, I can
load a car set-up,
but not change a car set-up?)

Game was running perfect before this, and I'm on round 13 in an expert
championship too!!!!

Problem appears to be sorted now, thanks to Codemasters support staff
via thier website.

The problem is (apparently) related to old (pre-patch) saved car
set-ups. If you try to *change* (Note: you can load them , but you
cannot change them?) any pre patch set-ups, that causes the frequent
disconnects back to the desktop.

To cure it, simply load any existing set-ups you want to use (do not
change them at all) then save them as a new set-up straight away.

This cured it for me......
