Upgrading: How much processor power do I really need?

Im' upgrading my processor..
Iv'e been using a 166 for several years now, and a voodo1, 64megs ram. (this
dude is lost...)

I'm usually playing f1rs, and scgt (ok, i know the cars looks like shit in
the lowest res, and I cannot play the night-courses). I've bought toca2 and
(the heli-sim) apache/havoc but they are not playable until an upgrade. I
wonder, how much processor would it take to be able to run all the tracks on
SCGT in 640x480 w all options on full? I guess it'll take half a year before
I'm upgrading the videocard, if I dont decide to get a TNT2.
Currently I'm considering a Celeron 466, Athlon 600 or a pIII 533.
The Athlon is of course the fastest, but eventually I would have to get a
new chassis to supply the power, and I would definitely need new memory.
The pIII is of course fast, but is the difference worth the 3x higher price
compared to the celeron?

Would the celeron be enough?
Which one to get?
(I'll probably wont be playing anything other than gp3 soon..)

Carl,

I am a long time simmer...back to the andretti days and spent the last
three years with a 166 OC->180 mhz, w/Voodoo3...playable but I spent
most of my time trying to tweak it to its max.  I have most racing
sims...anyway went out and had an Athlon 600 with A7 built for $1,100
with a 17' monitor.  Believe me you won't regret it...all games are
maxed out and I am ready for the next generation.  If you can afford
it...take the leap.

I bought a cel466, tnt2m64, 128 megs samsung, and an epox 3vca. It makes
such a difference... Too bad win2k doesnt boot... Guess it's the new dma.
I'll switch back and take backups.
I bought F12k, it's so good I can't stop playing it. Worth every penny. And
SCGT is quite different now with 15 opponents apposed to 3.
