GT3 will support multiple displays.  Now you'll be able to watch the crappy
AI boot you off the road from multipile monitors!

http://www.racesimcentral.net/

But while that's been known for some time now, the really interesting part
doesn't concern multiplayer at all. Using the FireWire connections, players
will be able to link multiple PS2s for rendering multiple viewpoints --
which means that truly *** home racers could, theoretically immerse
themselves in a stunningly realistic realtime***pit, a la F355! We don't
expect too many people will take advantage of this feature, but it's
certainly interesting, and shows off quite nicely the wide potential of
next-gen systems.

Who's interested about a punched up arcade-game with more jaggies then
NASCAR Road Racing by EA Sports?

Oh, you didn't hear, you need two PS2s connected together to render
the daskboard, something about texture memory, hahahhaahhahha LOL
!!!!!!!!!!!

I will say that GT3 looks pretty dialed though..

I await WSC !

As has been done for GPL (using multiple, networked machines), a game now 3
years old?

Why do you contrast this title with WSC anyway? -None of the Gran Tourismo
games has ever been released on the PC and neither will GT3 AFAIK.

Jan./"*** home racers"... lol, good job they didn't say simracers.

hi,

isn't there room in the world for people who love both hard core sims
and fun racing games?

gpl offers satisfaction, realism and a challenge that gt2 can only
dream of.  gt2 offers instant gratification, tons of cars and a
helluva lot of fun.  i like them both.  especially when i play gt2 on
my pc using psxe and a psx joypad.  the graphics are excellent when
you use your 3d card to improve the resolution. obviously the quality
of the textures is crappy & you still get terrible popup, but it is
way better than on a real psx.

that said, i haven't been playing anything but gpl and gp3 in a
longggg time now.

I don't think less of people who play gt2 compared to the people who
play gpl just because gpl is harder.  what would be the point?
everybody's different.  not so long ago, i did not have more than half
an hour every few days to spend playing games.  gt2 was excellent to
keep my *** withdrawal systems in check.

just my opinion.  i appear to be in the minority, but what the heck :)
maybe when I have a gplrank < 100, it might have more weight.

regards,
ian

lol

GT3 doesn't have***pit view, just bumper and a guardian angel view only.
And, Max AI cars number is just 6 (maybe 5).
To make matters worse, the AI is not AI really. It's running blindness,
cannot identify other cars. So, they're crashing every time like
"Destruction Derby". hehe

Sure there is, I do myself as a matter of fact. This anoymous poster just
struck a nerve and I lashed out. One of my not so good character traits.

You betcha.

Can't say I agree. To me the challenge arises more from the game structure
than from the actual driving itself, which I find mildly tedious and
frustrating (same with 1nsane, for example).

By an emulator and a game to turn my PC into a gloryfied Playstation? -No
thanks, if it's not worth converting it's not worth playing.

I'll take your word for it.

Attaboy!

I don't judge people on those criteria either. I do use a fairly narrow
definition for the term "simracer" and "racing sim" though.

I use DOOM when faced with a similar dilemma. ;-)

Wouldn't say that, but black and white opinions do make for more interesting
flames. ;-)

No, everyone's experience is valid, regardless of "objective" speed.

That explains it. I'll put the dashboard on an HDTV and on top of that
I will put another HDTV for the windshield. I'll need another 3 HDTV's
for the side and rear views though. I think I can just afford it. :-)

How do you do this in GPL?  I've never seen it done.

I always get a kick out of comments such as "this anonymous poster".  How is
anyone to know that "Jan Verschueren" is anything but an alias?  Unless I
can see, feel, and hear you then you're just as anonymous as any other
visitior to this forum.

BUDDY!  What happened to you and Julie at the end of "Montezuma's
Ferrari"?  Will there be a sequel?  And WHO the heck is Sammy Speed?
Ninth at Indy in '51 would be Tony Bettenhausen, in '52 it was Cliff
Griffith, Bettenhausen again in '53, and in '54 it was Larry Crockett.

Also, sorry to hear about your dad an Julie's mom . . .

:-T

Hold on there, I haven't received my copy of Montezuma's Ferrari yet.  Don't
give away any of the story.

Simple, you network 3 PC's and host a lan race on the one which is going to
have the forward view... then you connect to it on the other machines,
making sure you have swapped the relevant side view for the default driving
view (in some ini file somewhere, don't know the details either). The "side
view" computers are set up to show full screen "replay" (actually they're
following the action "live") of you driving and voila... virtual***pit a
la GPL.

Don't worry Buddy -- no spoilers there (just some stuff to get you
thinking!).

Drop me a line after you get through it, and then we can start
campaigning jointly for a Carrera Panamericana sim!
