You are right, there's usually no need to watch the speedo. In fact,
this didn't start to bug me until the last Evolution-race with the 2000
Turbo. I had noticed the fact that sometimes the maximum in the speedo
was 250 km/h, even with the 911 GT1 in the Factory Driver-mode, which
was strange, but I just thought some cars didn't exceed that speed
(which was quite hard to believe of the GT1!). But when Boxster's speedo
sometimes had a 300 km/h max, and 2000 Turbo sometimes only 250 km/h,
without changing the setups at all, I thought I should ask someone if
they've had the same problem...
