Wicked3D eyeScream installation

I just managed to get hold of a pair of Wicked3D eyeScream stereo 3D
glasses through eBay (at last!)  :-)

However, when I tried to install the drivers, I received the following
error message:

No PCI device for Wicked3D board has been detected.
You need to shut down the computer, check PCI slot, restart your
computer again and install PCI Multimedia Video device.

I have a Creative Blaster Banshee (a Voodoo Banshee card).

Does this error mean that the glasses will only work with a Wicked3D
board, or is it something to do with the "PCI Multimedia Video" device -
I have the Creative version of the Voodoo Banshee drivers, so maybe they
called one of the devices by a different name or something, and I need
to use the reference drivers from 3DFX?

Does anyone know whether the term "PCI Multimedia Video device" refers
to a specific device that should be listed under the device manager, or
is it just a term for the Wicked3D board that they've used?

Also, has anyone successfully used the Wicked3D glasses with a
non-wicked3d graphics card?

Help!

The glasses work fine with my Monster 2 cards.

You need to DELETE any 3DFX cards from your device hardware and
reboot.

The computer will autodetect the card(s) when you reboot and you need
to say CANCEL to NOT install anything at this time.

Then run the SETUP program on the driver CD which will install the
drivers and reboot your system.  This time it will autodetect the
cards and install the drivers.  Of course you will want to update
those drivers immediately with the new ones on metabytes site.

No matter what brand of 3D card you have it will SHOULD say somethign
like METABYTE 3D Accelerator card, etc.  You have to be using their
drivers and Glide Wrapper to get the 3D glasses to work.

Don't forget to unzip that big file which has the 3D setups for most
of the popular games.  You will need to copy the appropriate file to
each of your game dirs for the glasses to config properly for each
game.  This process isn't documented anywhere and took me about 3
hours to figure out.

HAVE FUN!

Eek - so, as I have a Voodoo Banshee, that means I'll end up with no
video drivers at all (2D or 3D)!

Presumably it will manage with VGA mode for the time being, till I put
in the Wicked3D drivers.

Not for the faint-hearted!

I'll give it a try tonight....

('er indoors will kill me if I break her computer, so I'd better be
careful!)

I am not so sure it will work on the Banshee....maybe you can get some
info on their site...

Sadly it didn't work.

Whenever I remove the video adapter from the device list and reboot, the
system insists on auto-detecting the card and installing a new set of
drivers.

Once I install the default PCI VGA driver, I then have to reboot again
and it then auto-detects the monitor as well.

I think I did manage to end up with no video adapter listed, but I
remember that when I did this before I then had huge problems installing
the Creative Banshee drivers because this meant that the monitor wasn't
present either.

I fixed this in the end by installing the VGA driver first, re-instating
the monitor and then installing the Creative driver from the desktop
properties/settings/advanced options.

Anyway, whichever combination I start with (Creative driver, VGA driver
or no driver), I still get exactly the same message from the Wicked3D
installer.

It's very depressing, especially as I know I will never get a reply from
Wicked3D support - they never replied to an email I sent them several
months ago, and other people have had the same experience.

Perhaps their sales department is more awake - I could ask them about
buying a Wicked3D Vengeance card to go with it, or something!
