N4 Rockingham Help!!

Are there any tricks for getting around Rockingham?  I cant do better than
150 mph per lap.  I downloaded a setup and its ok, but the car is really
loose in 3,4? I think,  whichever end has less banking.   Anyway, Id really
appreciate any pointers.

Thanks..

Dave

What's that in time? I don't have my speed-time comvertor on this 'puter and
I don't use speed. Speed isn't really a tangible measure of getting around a
track to me.

It sounds like you are having problems in turns 1-2 they are the ones with
the least banking. Go in real easy hugging the apron (not on the apron) at
the apex start to feed the throttle, and point the car on an angle to the
outside wall exiting 2. While getting back into the gas completely easing
parallel to the outter wall headed for 3-4. Go in 3-4 easy but once you are
along the bottom in 3-4 go full throttle using the same technique for
pointing the car as I described exiting 1-2. This is what I do anyways.

I think the banking is really irrelavent at NC (aka Rockingham) since 1-2
are 22deg and 3-4 are only 25deg . The difference is you are approaching 1-2
while turning (a not so straight front straight). Try lifting as you get to
the last track condition indicator light on the wall before T1, maybe
draggin the brake a little. Get to the bottom by/near the apex and ease back
into full throttle by the begining of T2 (just past the apex). If you enter
T1 too close to the apron, you will push out toward the wall. If you delay
your entry a little, the banking will help you get down to the bottom
(nearly a 1.5 story drop from wall to apron). Same for T3, come in toward
the high side and use the banking to get to down to the bottom and exit near
the T4 wall. A good setup will do this nearly by itself as turning left
coming out of 4 too much will cause the car to swap ends in a hurry.

I find I get into trouble if I don't give myself plenty of room to run
out of the turns.  Stay low all the way through the turns and be easy
on the gas until you are nearly all the way through.  You want to have
your wheel pretty much unwound before getting back to full throttle.
Getting on the apron is usually disastrous as well.  If you have to go
up high in the turns, you can't really jump on the gas until you are
in the straight.

This is by NO means absolute...but a general generalization.   Oval
racers quote speed, road racers quote time.....

Hey Dave, is there any other kind of generalization? <G>

Sorry Dave, I generally try to be supportive when you get flamed here so I
appreciate the reciprocation . Any hard core oval racer you come
across will use time (what do most NASCAR drivers discuss in interviews,
time, in case you don't watch NASCAR...). Speed is just an average of how
fast you were traveling around the track distance. Time on the other hand,
is how long it took you to cover that distance, to me a lot more tangible
when comparing 1 lap to the next. I hate to intrude on your 'road course
elitest' world, but a lot of us oval racers use time exclusively too.

yeah I know...thats why I tried to generalize it.  Plenty of real world
drivers talk about only the tenths of a second because they are all so
close....i.e.
we did 7's all day....when what he meant was 1:43.7's  but what the hey...I
guess I should have said...Online Tallyheads generally quote speed,
dedicated simmers quote time...(now who will that upset?)  :>

i thought i would give it a try, i had a 149.3 but could do no better,
so i thought i will go slow and learn the entrances and exits to the
corners, what a surprise the first lap was a 150.6 with the standard
qualifying setup for the rock.
