Guys,

Are these laps average lap speeds or max speeds at turn 3.  206-207
average alps would produce 212+ max speeds at turn 3.  This is pretty damn
fast.  With out a restrictor plate yeah, but...  I'm not sure what my
average speeds are but times are 48.6 there about.   That's pretty damn fast
I think.

Ok, let me put this straight ;-)  . I will talk from a NROS point of view.
This is without any AI enhancment, no track.txt change for better grip,
etc.. It's pure racing, and drafting with humans, not AI.   Restrictor plate
On, 70degrees no wind.    With drafting, it's pretty easy to get 48.5 laps
for the best drivers.  We qual around 195.7mph.   With the drafting, it's
not unknown to hit the 210mark before turn 3, I did it quite often.
WIthout the restrictor plate (we can't do this on the NROS), I can easily
reach the 211mph average lap.

No matter how much I try...no matter what setup I use..the best I can get at
Tally is a 193...or there about ..lap. Can someone send there best setup for
a fast lap?..I use  a Nascar Pro wheel..still can't seem to get beyond 193
or 194 avg lap

Check out http://www.team-lightspeed.com/    You will find the best setup on
the Internet for normal drivers.  Take those setups to make your own, since
you may have a different racing style and a other feeling.  No setup is
perfect, but you can perfect it.

Just to help you also.... take the ACE setup, and put all the shocks at
100%.  No make it your qualification setup.  You should get easily 195mph,
and 196mph with some little adjustments.

Check out also http://www.theuspits.com/ , where you will find Bill Cranston
(sp?) track guides.  You will find some good information on Talladega there
(I think www.ivga.com still has Joe's track guides also).  The hint is to
stay low, way low... That means left tires around 1feet over the white line
at the bottom while racing.  Oh and practice, practice, practice !!!! ;-)

Maybe you can explain to me how that is possible, as I consider myself to be
fairly good at n2, and while I never play multiplayer because I can't afford
to join one of the multiplayer services, I can qualify at 194, but the best
lap in the race has been 196 for me, and that was with one hell of a draft.
Top speed I have ever seen EVER has been about 203.  Do you guys bump draft
to get those speeds?

George,

I've tried to bump draft, it speeds him up and slows
me down. Perhaps with a human driver it works better. My
best race speed in a draft has been 195.987. Then again I
never run at 70 degrees with no wind. I have hit 204/205
on the back straight but never consistently.

I considered myself pretty good before I played multiplayer too...

Well... Just hop on the NROS and you will understand ;-)  Setup is almost
99% of your speed at Talladega. Just practice, practice and practice !
Seriously, try to stay on the low side of the track. Your left tires about
1-2feet from the white line at the bottom.  The Tri-oval is the place to get
your .2sec by lap.  It's very important, and you should pay close attention
to the way you take the tri-oval.

For the drafting.. well...  You can't compare AI to real humans. After
drafting real people I can tell you that the normal AI is very difficult to
draft. But if you go take those AI enhancements, well you will probably make
different laptimes, since they have more/less drag, etc...

210mph at the end of the straight mean a good lap on the NROS, and it's not
that rare.  And me don't bump draft anymore, since it's too dangerous with
the warps sometimes.  Btw the NROS has some very low prices for people who
just want to try it. Even a 5hour free trial. Check it out, it's the best
thing in the SimRacing community presently.
