menus.
I believe the menu problem is a known bug with Matrox drivers. I'm
using v.4.12 on Win98, which AFAIK is the latest available. Someone
suggested turning down the Graphics performance slider down a couple of
notches - but this just results in being booted back to the desktop when
I try to get beyond the first menu. The odd thing is that very
occasionally the menu's work OK for a while, but generally there can be
anything up to a 1 minute lag(!) between input and response on the menu
- and sometimes no response whatsoever.
And that's not all - If I do manage to get into the game itself, after
between 5 and 15 minutes, the graphics get garbled - all the polygons
are still there, but no textures - making driving a bit difficult... I
get the same problem in TOCA2, another DirectX game. Yes, I know it
sounds like overheating - but I've got a 3" fan blowing directly onto my
Voodoo, and this sits in a very large tower case with 3 extra fans.
However, the problem does seem worse at 800x600 than 640, so who
knows... _But_ Glide/OpenGL games such as Half-Life, Quake & Unreal all
run fine - I can run the Q2 Massive demo for hours without a hitch.
As you can tell, I'm flummoxed. Any help greatly appreciated.
My system:
AMDK6-2 350 on VIA MVP3 Mobo
Generic Voodoo2 (12Mb)
Matrox Mystique 170 (4Mb)
