Ok, I was there in person and must say this is a first class facility and it
was an absolutely great race there today.  200mph on a mile oval is
something to experience....the CART cars absolutely fly. :)

Couple of points I'd thought I'd make

a) HUGE attendance and the stands were full, was great.
b) Many of the fans that were around me, and/or I ran into were quite
knowledgeable about CART and the sport.
c) Paul Tracy sucks.  He keeps doing the same thing over and over again.

:)

Doh..I forgot to mention some other important points.

d) I WANT CART2! :)  I got to the CMS in time to see the IndyLights out
there running and I must say that I was jonesing to be out there.  May just
have to boot up ICR2. :)

No kidding, that guy is a moron, I'm no big fan of Andretti myself, but
this time I completely agree with him, Paul Tracey HAD to know that
Andretti was there, after all he tried to run him off the track all the
way down the straight, some people give racing room, others just wreck,
the guy is fast but doesn't use his head much

What amazes me most is that the commentators seemed to think it was just
a "racing incident", come on..........

No "racing incident" there.  That was over agressive driving and I wouldn't
be surprised to see Tracy on probation again.

He needs to learn some good driving techniques, how to use your head, and
when and where to be aggressive from his teammate Dario who is heads and
tails above him in ability and just being a good driver.

Tracey admitted that he knew MA was there, but that they were going
for the same piece of the track. Like that makes it OK.

I thought that was bogus too. tracey tried to run MA off the track on
the main straight, then clearly just crashed into him in the turn.

>That's interesting because a couple of laps later Franchitti cut down in

>that the driver attempting the overtake gave way...unlike Andretti.

When the overtaking car is in the position that MA's car was
the car on the outside is supposed to give the proper space
not just crash into him and claim a racing incident. I think the
rule is if the front wheel of the overtaking car is up to the door
panel area (sidepod) then you F'ing back off. That is basic
racing 101.

So maybe Michael was right - Paul DOES have a death wish.  I can't see running
into someone at 180+ mph just because you WANT that piece of track.  Sounds
like Natural Selection to me.  Unfortunately, some innocent may get caught in
his 'finale'...

I read in the Chicago Tribune this morning that the track was
hit with a noise warning citation. No fines this time. But supposedly
they will sit down and discuss how to lower the crowd/car noise.

Right, like they will put mufflers on the cars just for Chicago!!!
What a pile of ***(I live in the suburbs). The problem is the
speedway was build in Sportmans Park which is a horse
race track, which is in the town of cicero (quite residential).

Greg,

I suspect it will involve more sound buffers around the outside of the
track.

Circero isn't all that residential around Sportsman Park. :)  But
nonetheless, I'm sure the "noise polution" will involve more sound proofing.

However, the cars were something to be seen and heard. :)  Cicero's
government needs to shut up and just deal with it. Having the Chicago Motor
Speedway is its biggest economic boon in years or in years to come.  I doubt
that Cicero has ever seen 70,000 or so people, and more may be expected next
year to try and get tickets, in the village at one time.

Seems to be a popular pastime: pick a noisy business and build next door to it, then complain.
Our airport is now totally surrounded by residentials. Stupid planning there.
Not only can is it unable to expand, these people have the nerve to complain about noise!
