Thread from the High Gear GP3 Forum today 19/07/00 :

Today, here in Milan (ITALY),there is a free test of the game, offer by the
local distributor of the game in Italy.(www.leaderspa.it)
There were about 30 PC for testing the game.
There was also the real 99 Jordan of H.H.Frentzen and .... a lot of
beautiful hostess!!!!
I was there and i had the opportunity to play for about 30 min.
The game was running on a PIII 600 Mhz 128 MB RAM and a GeForece 32MB.
Is fantastic, the frame rate is never a problem the weather effect are
incredible.
The physic of the car is excellent.
I played in Montecarlo and at Monza (obviously)with all details on (even the
mirrors).
It's just like watch a GP at television!
People of the Hasbro told me that the game will be on the shelves the 28
July for sure.
It'very imprssive ... the show will end at 22.00 of this evening, and i must
be back to try to make some other laps.
Ciao

Is there AI cars on the track, if there was how many?

There were 22 cars on the track.
I tried a fast race at Monaco and i was in the last row...the AI is quite
good,no stupid crash like F1 2000 at starting.
I played with all driving aids on at 1024x768 32 bit of colour.

Sound good, how you think about FPS, are they better than 25FPS?

The FPS,in my opinion,should be between 25-30.
And i think that this is the worst situation, because all the details were on
...
In the graphic menu, you can even set your desired FPS and the game
automatically desable some grapihc option to obtain the desired FPS.
Ciao

Tillone

Finally some positive feedback from a hands-on test. Incouraging.

One question remains... how could he tell anything about the physics with
all the aides on?

Sorry for you guys, but i tried gp3 at Milan too, and i would say one word :
gp3= gp2 . Five years for a wet race and a 3d graphic. Now i understand why
in this long time Geoff Cramond never release a 3d patch for gp2, the patch
was gp3. Believe in me the  phisic, the sound, the Ai are all identical to
gp2.
Sorry for my bad english but i'm italian.

That's funny.. I just read a message in another forum by another
visitor of the Milan event, and he insists that GP3 definitely ISN'T
just GP2 with new graphics.

I don't know who's right or wrong, but well...

Yes, "want". But (unfortunately) that doesn't mean that I completely
neglect the possibility <G>

Here here! I GP2 is *still* my favourite driving sim, and if GP3
'merely' adds the one thing missing in GP2 - weather effects -
I'll be more than happy.

To be fair, though, I don't know if I'd still be happy if I was
going to pay the full RRP for it - thank heavens for special
pre-release discounts!

Martin D. Pay
Still thinking about getting a FF wheel for GP3. Especially as it
will work with NFS3, TOCA 2 and GPL as well...

I'm sorry to say that, but in italian simulators NG there are tons of
people that are saying that GP3 is too similarar to GP2 to justify 4
years of developement.
the game was a full version (all tracks all options), but not the gold
version.. so maybe some minus details are different in final version.

check also this site: www.f1gp3.it (the GP3 coverage is only in
italian, sorry about that). basically they say that GP3 is exactly GP2
with weather conditions, 3d accelerated graphics, and some minor
improvements.
