NHRA Steering

I give up.  I've tried 2 different versions of Sidewinders, my Nascar Pro
wheel and the keyboard yet I still can't get down the track more than 2
times out of 10 without crossing the centerline or hitting the wall.  I've
calibrated everything but the car still drifts alot.  I've tried using small
adjustments of the wheel but the only thing that seems to work is to get off
the gas.  If I was unable to control my other racing games in a similar
fashion this would be understandable but I've come to the conclusion that
this game is undriveable.

I use a Sidewinder and have no problem since I set the sensitivity and
scale all the way down in the NHRA setup.

I recommend a game card first, and second, I am using the PC Racer
controller for NHRA.  Also, it gets hairy on end of each run.  The Funny Car
is more difficult to control.  I am able to make passes with out problems
but concentration is key.
The game is not yet optimized for analog X and Y axis controls.  The
steering is all I use on my PC Racer and of course the buttons for
gas/brake/chuts
.

I experienced similar problems with steering and after watching a few replays,
noticed that the problem with steering drift frequently occurs when the funny
car "hooks up" too much and lifts the front wheels. If the steering problems
occur during the first 3/4 of the run, try slightly decreasing the secondary
clutch and adding weight to the front of the car. This will keep the front
wheels on the ground and subsequently increase the odds of finishing the run
without putting the car into the wall.  Also getting out of the groove when
backing the funny car up after a burnout can cause the car to pull severely to
the left or right. I've had the best results setting the joystick sensitivity to
about 40% and the scale to about 25%.

I have the Thrustmaster ACM game card and the jerking of the front
tires still happens. After the burnout while backing up in the groove
I notice the front tires jerking left or right to full lock. I have
other sims and controllers (FLCS, T2, Gravis Game Pad) and it happens
to all of them, but not in the other sims, SO it must be in NHRA
itself.
