NHRA Game steering by keyboard

I have been steering using the keyboard and have found it impossible to get
down the track without crashing.  Corrections as the car nears the top end
are impossible to make without the car overreacting.  Can anyone offer some
suggestions?

i have a wheel as well, but for Tantrum's NHRA drag racing sim, you
probably could/would do better just using a digital joystick of some sort.
when you go to calibrate the controller in the game, you'll notice that
you can set the sensitivity.  this is something that your keyboard surely
isn't letting you control, as it's i/o is either "on or off".

plus, the gas pedal is designed to be mapped to a button.  that's the part
where sensitivity isn't needed at all.
