Now that I am cleared of my "ppl against the RL thing" bug, I can see again.
This heat is getting to me ;)
Man how blind can one be. I reacted totally foolish, sorry Jon. (and others)

First I saw it as a sick joke, but hey it wasnt. It's the real deal.  :D
It's a very cool concept there. Looks expensive though ?

Should be interresting to follow their progress.

Best regards.

Hey, with all the tension building in here, who could blame you?

I would pay US$2-3000 1500-2000 for an "immersion" simulator experience,
including g-force chassis, curved or multiple angle screens, FF pedals etc.

There is a rider on this. The technology must add to producing a realistic
experience. Another way of putting is that all sensory input should give me
finer control over the virtual car.

My concern from experience the arcade type g-force simulators is that they
are a fun gimmick, but totally unrealistic.

IIRC, the NADS project at the University at Iowa cost several tens of
millions of dollars.  If I ever win the lottery, I plan on buying myself
something similar.  I wonder if the who I could get to write software for
it?

Yeah, I imagine they still got a loooong way to go b4 it would be realistic
enough to be worth it.

I have heard stories (urban myth's ?) of guys in the full motion flight
simulators  who screamed when they saw the ground rushing up at them. If
they are true, I would say ten's of millions of dollars would be a small
price to pay.  :)

Well, that was just my personal word. :)
It's more of a motion platform. Chair was more of a historical word,
but having been to Fokker here in the Netherlands that's not really a
good term for the fancy stuff they have. ;-)

I think RAS should organize a road trip to Iowa City to check this
thing out.  I mean, it's supposed to be the most advanced motor
vehicle simulator on the planet, wouldn't they want to hear from RAS
to make sure they got it right?

Also, I'll bet they can never get enough volunteers to drive the thing
when they are doing their "Effects of *** Intoxication on Motor
Vehicle Operation" studies... we should definitely help them out,
especially if they are supplying the beer...

cheers,
Gerald

The fact the West brothers had the integrity not to sellout and *try* and
see their vision through is enough to like already. Some of you just don't
get it.
