N2 video problem

by r.debol » Sat, 14 Dec 1996 04:00:00

I just purchased N2 tonight... but when I run the N2.EXE my monitor goes
inot 'energy-save' mode. Meaning it blanks it's self out. I can still
hear the sounds and such... so I know my computer is still running.

I've tried to re-install twice but I still get the same thing. I can
view the setup screen ok (SETUP.EXE) but it seems like there is
something making my monitor go blank.

My setup is:

Aptiva p133 16meg-ram
1.6hd, 4x cdrom
NEC Multisync XV15 monitor
Trident PCI SuperVGA

thanks for the help,

r.debold

btw: does N2 work with Hawaii yet?

Try running NASCAR2.EXE instead --for now anyway-- This eliminates the
"Intro" screens, and hopefully should atleast let you "Get into" the
game.

Good Luck,

Larry Abels

Here is something that you might want to check.  If you are using Win95,
make sure you have selected the proper monitor settings inside Win95.
Look under Display Properties in the Control Panel, go to Settings ->
Change Display Type -> Monitor Type.  Don't ask me why, but somehow
Win95 can cause what you describe to happen even if one boots to DOS
mode if the proper Monitor Type is not set.  Bill gave Win95 alot of
power!

No.

First of all, disable the 'green-feature' in your system bios.  The way to
do
this is when you first turn your system on, hit the DEL key to enter the
bios.
Then select the 'Powere Management Group' (or similar wording) and disable
ALL the power-down features.  These features aren't needed unless you plan
on being away from your PC for more than an hour or so at a time...cheaper
to just switch-off in this case.

Also, if you still ahve problems, do as Larry had suggested in bypassing
N2.BAT and going straight to the EXE file.
